08 smart for two convertible, 138000 miles, engine and transmission run and shift fine but a rattling noise coming from the transmission at idle just started. Changed the trans fluid, the old fluid was medium grey with metallic particles in it. I think the transmission is on it's way out . Any input from someone who's car did this would be appreciated

Are you positive it is coming from the transmission and that it isn't the exhaust system or a loose or broken bracket?
