Good evening to all on the site!
I have a semi-technical question, this evening.
I’m trying to initialize several things in the drive train.
Today, I attempted to change the air cleaner element.
I’m mechanically inclined, have pretty good dexterity and a LOT of patience.
I purchased a STP model SA10604 filter.
After an hour it took to take out the factory air cleaner, I stuffed the new shiny clean filter in and attempted to install the top on the air cleaner box. I fought with the top for another hour with no luck. Finally I set both elements on a flat surface together to find that the smart filter is notably smaller and as hard as I tried, I could not get the top to compress to get the rear to set into those little pockets to make a hinge. So today’s question is what is the best brand fit for an element that I can get?
The original is a smart filter number: 043 795 003 I think.
Any answers greatly appreciated

Glad you got it to fit.
Those of us who change our own air filters know what you went through. Because the intake resonator box is in the way. Some of us members have removed the resonator box and have hooked up a custom silicone tube between the stock air filter box and throttle body. Makes changing air filters a 5 min. job.

Just watch the shipping costs...
