Needed a second Smart electric like I needed a hole in my head, but it was really hard to pass up the deal. I believe I got the last new 2014 in the US and I believe I got the last 451 cabriolet in the US.

Congrats! I have to admit wanting a cabrio early on in my search but am glad I got just a regular coupe. I'd be curious about details also. I didn't see your cabrio advertised as being on sale anywhere when I was looking.

I started casually looking for a second Smart after Steve got paid to "buy" one. :) I figured if I could get one for a few thousand bucks, I'd have a hard time passing that up. So I started scouring dealer websites. Found the ones in Oxnard, one in Portland, one in MD and several in NJ. The dealer I bought mine from had three new electrics (one 2014 cabriolet and two 2015 coupes) listed in their used car database. Why, I'm not sure - maybe their program doesn't allow them to call anything a new car if it's more than two model years old? Mine is definitely new and never titled though. Got a copy of the Certificate of Origin.

So after getting laughed at and doing some dickering, I ended up getting this one for $11,500 delivered to my driveway in NC - no dealer document/dealer prep fees either. So with the federal tax credit, it ends up costing me $4K. I can live with that.

We have used our coupe for probably 90% of our driving and that will only go up now and also keep the miles down a little on the coupe. And they both fit in one garage bay - sort of. :)

Very nicely done! I thought, from reading the comments after Steven got his, that there were many others ready to jump on basically the same deal. So when MB of Oxnard lowered their prices, I jumped on it without even trying to negotiate, thinking they would go fast. In the end, I didn't end up paying any fees either but I did pay to transport it up here. You got a way better deal than me but I'm still very happy with what I paid. And I'm still surprised the other two haven't sold - I guess it was more wishful talking than actual readiness to buy, and if I had known demand would be slim, I would have bargained hard just on principle.

Enjoy your new Smart!
