I started casually looking for a second Smart after Steve got paid to "buy" one.

I figured if I could get one for a few thousand bucks, I'd have a hard time passing that up. So I started scouring dealer websites. Found the ones in Oxnard, one in Portland, one in MD and several in NJ. The dealer I bought mine from had three new electrics (one 2014 cabriolet and two 2015 coupes) listed in their used car database. Why, I'm not sure - maybe their program doesn't allow them to call anything a new car if it's more than two model years old? Mine is definitely new and never titled though. Got a copy of the Certificate of Origin.
So after getting laughed at and doing some dickering, I ended up getting this one for $11,500 delivered to my driveway in NC - no dealer document/dealer prep fees either. So with the federal tax credit, it ends up costing me $4K. I can live with that.
We have used our coupe for probably 90% of our driving and that will only go up now and also keep the miles down a little on the coupe. And they both fit in one garage bay - sort of.
