we spent last weekend at our daughters house in Sarasota which included playing in the Gulf......after 5 minutes in the water I remembered my remotes in my swim trunks and thought oh oh. well after sitting in the air for 25 minuted they worked good as new.

I'd expect the salt water exposure to shortly kill your remotes due to corrosion. My recommendation is to ASAP disassemble them, remove battery, circuit board and button pad. Rinse all parts well with distilled water, followup with an isopropyl alcohol rinse and either blow dry or allow to thoroughly dry before reassembly.

You don't want to know what new fobs and programming cost!
