Hey all,
I never write bad reviews; I'm more of a move-on and let them rot in their own karma type. But I see that CARiD is sticking its nose into this Smart community, so I need to speak out about my experience with them.
I ordered using their drop-down menus for my 2016 Smart ForTwo 1L gas. I also checked with their Customer Support person, sent him a picture of my VIN, and confirmed that the parts were correct for my make and model.
Nevertheless, they sent me the wrong parts - front rotors and brake pads; my Smart has a four-lug pattern, they sent a three-lug and pads that didn't fit my calipers. By the way, last time I checked, they still have those wrong parts up on their website.
After three calls in two weeks and having to send them photos of the unused parts and the original parts boxes showing that they were intact before authorizing the return, they finally sent me a return authorization and a pdf of a shipping label.
I dropped the parts off at UPS on the way to the airport, but the label CARiD had emailed for the return would not open and was unusable. Not having time to deal with it and not wanting to leave the parts in my Smart at the airport, I paid 62.42 for the shipping.
After emailing them about the shipping label and sending them a screenshot of the tracking number on September 17th, they promised via email that a full refund was in process within two to four business days.
Didn't happen. Instead, completing a simple return beginning August 20th and their constant reassurance that they would refund the full amount took NINE WEEKS. Never did a single customer service person take responsibility and own the problem to completion. In thirteen emails and two calls, I dealt with twelve people, all of them promising in writing a full refund for parts and shipping in three to four days:
[Redacted -Mod]
Even after all those customer service reps promised a full refund their emails, CARiD never refunded the shipping. I did, however, get a terse email telling me they would give me a $25 gift certificate.
I told them to take their stinkn' gift certificate and shove it.
My entire customer experience after receiving their parts was me correcting their mistakes. It was a mudslide of thoughtlessness and BS.
And because of all of the above, Smart friends, I do NOT recommend buying from CARiD.
