You could apply anti-squeal compound to the back of the brake pads to prevent them from vibrating. Sometimes tolerances allow the brake pads a little slop which allows them space to vibrate as the brakes are applied. The compound helps minimize the vibration.

Also, make sure the rotors are clean. Some come with a coating which keeps them rusting while they sit on a shelf. Use brake cleaner to get this off before use. I

How much lining was on the old brakes? I just put new brakes in Minimus but the right side tab broke off, so I couldn't tell. Literally had 1\32nd" left.

Could be the quality of the brakes, I would go with ceramics, they stop better and last longer.

I had stocks in from new. Dynamiting the brakes in Twin Cities traffic will wear them down fast though.

I use always chamfered brake pads.. They have angled edges. Last year I replaced my rotors and pads...

Did you remove the rust with a wire brush and used brake parts lubricant?
