I have a 2017 smart car with 14,000 miles.
Recently heard a noise took it to a pep boys repair shop ( I know and trust )
Was told I needed front brake pads and rotors , it that unusual ?
The only place to get the parts by me is a Mercedes dealership in edison nj $365.00 ... really ?

Welcome to the forum, Not really, that really too soon to replace them. What kind of noise? You can have brakes replaced anywhere. This isn’t a exotic car. If you do replace them. Go with ceramic pads. Get rid of those dirty OEM ones. You can buy pads and rotors, at any parts store. Advance auto, Pep Boys, O’Reillys, and rock auto.
Really, pep boys said they did not have the parts for my car and did not know where to get them.
I had to drive to the dealership to get the parts..
It was a rubbing noise..
I already got the parts and had them replaced

Don't each car have a certain size and fit for brake pads and rotors

As low as $39 for pads at AutoZone. Wonder at RockAuto???

Why would they say they were hard to find

Thank you , I will definitely keep that in mind when I do need something..

So the next question is did the new pads and rotors make the noise go away? I can maybe believe pads needed at that low mileage, but have a really hard time believing that rotors needed to be replaced too.
