Sorry to make a new thread on what seems to be a common issue, trying to resolve this but I'm not very mechanically inclined & was hoping to get some answers here.
I don't have enough posts on the forum to add pics/urls but if you google image search "smart car broken muffler" the first result is exactly what mine looks like, a full break between the flex hose and muffler.

I'm trying to avoid Mercedes at all costs, so I found a place willing to fix it for me if I can provide the parts.
My question is, exactly what do I need?
I've seen others use aftermarket flex hoses, will that work here? Or do I need to replace the entire system?

Also, if anyone has recommendations or parts for sale, please let me know!
Buy a Borla and have a competant muffler shop install it. Forget the OEM garbage. I got a Remus, but apparently I got the last one in existence.

He's talking about a complete new Borla muffler. <img src="http://smartcarofamerica.com/forums/images/SmartCarOfAmerica/smilies/tango_face_smile.png" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
Ah, I see, thanks! Again I am really bad with this stuff so thank you all for being patient with me lol.
Do you guys think an entire new muffler is necessary? I'm also noticing Borla is marketed as "performance" mufflers and I'm not sure that's for me. As much as I would love to treat my little baby car, I'm more concerned with saving money at the moment. The Borlas aren't completely outside of my price range, but if I could find something cheaper that would be fantastic.

I just replaced my flex pipe last week.
I used this,"https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0784Z5822/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1".
I wish I could have found a 1 1/2" flex pipe but they don't appear to make them that small.
A good muffler shop should be able to weld a new one in.
This would definitely be ideal for me if all I need is a flex hose!

Since this is my 3rd post on the forum I'll see if I can edit in a picture of where the break is.
Edit: Added a pic to the OP <img src="http://smartcarofamerica.com/forums/images/SmartCarOfAmerica/smilies/tango_face_smile.png" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
IMO, the OEM design is bogus. Repaired my flex pipe twice in two years. My Remus has been “Auspuffing” (semi) quietly for 4 years without drama.
Just a heads up, but Borla’s website hasn’t listed either of their two mufflers for a while. Not 100% sure, but I think they’ve been discontinued, (for a while now).
If they’re NLA, you might have to do what I did to find my Remus: scour the Internet until you find a dealer that still has one in stock. Like I said, I think I bought the last Remus in existence.
