I have a 2014 Smart for 2, I have not driven it in two months, I was going to use it yesterday, however the key-fob did not unlock the vehicle. I changed the battery out with a new one, thinking that was the issue, however it still did not unlock the vehicle. So, my owners manual is in the vehicle which I can not get to for reference. How do I proceed to correct the problem, without involving the dealership? I have not checked the battery yet but intend too.

Did you try the key itself on the drivers door? There's a black rubber tab covering the keyhole - remove that and unlock the door. It sounds like the 12 volt battery is dead. :)

Right below the drivers door handle... :)

PS - do some searching for topics on leaving the car for extended periods without a battery tender - the smart battery usually dies at about the 2 week mark.
- once you get the car open, read up on the owners manual....
