I had the code that said the coolant switch was bad. After researching it on this site, I ordered the part and changed it. The light is still on. I scanned it and it's still giving me the same error. I tried clearing the code and it won't shut the light off. The mechanic won't pass it for inspection since the light is on, so I'm stuck with this car that I cannot even drive. Any help here would be great. Thanks.

Kmag, what model? What part was changed?

Some parts (ABS pump, yaw sensor & pretty much anything that communicates via CANBUS) need to be registers with the SAM to be recognized. That takes a Mercedes Star Diagnostic machine.

The coolant sensor should be able to be changed without needing to be coded to the car. If changing the sensor itself didn't work, I'd check the wiring to make sure it's actually making a connection. If the wires are all good, you may have something else going on.
