I got a prototype unit working for the 453 and tested it on a colleague's 453 ED in late December 2018; then I got busy with Christmas holidays and work.

Here's a report from that 453 prototype unit.

I'll need a few more weeks to dig out from "not car hobby" stuff and hope to get the 453 version wrapped up and ready by mid-February.
It uses the exact same hardware as the 451 test unit, so now it's just a matter of getting the code dialed in. The 453 unit will work very similarly to the 451 unit.

All of the code for the unit is open-sourced, so if you're an electronics hobbyist and feel inclined, you can build one yourself, but most people aren't, so we also offer them for sale pre-assembled.

My battery is at 100% still after replaced a full 2 years ago!

DealMeIn - glad you got your unit and were able to run a test. Got two comments for you. It looks like your battery has not had the service campaign update that came out in about 2016. Many of us think that this campaign might help with the "bricking" issue some 451's have had when the 12v battery goes south. Secondly your Ah readings are a little low. I feel good seeing numbers at or near 50. I'd suggest giving your car some good exercise and testing it again in a few weeks.

Amazing that the update wasn't done - it was a leased car that was turned in and then sold at auction by Mercedes Finance in 2016. I will have to contact a MB dealer and see if they can do the job.

As for the low readings it was barely above freezing here and the SOC is only 30%. I will keep checking as the weather warms and the pack is more fully charged. I was happy to see not too much variance in the individual cell values.

Yes, if the car had the campaign done, that would read as SW: 2014/18/0."

Got an appointment with the Mercedes Benz dealer in St Charles, IL for Wednesday morning to do the update. Only 17 miles from my house so not too bad.

Good deal - the test results show the updated campaign. Still a little concerned about the low Ah numbers. Keep an eye on those. I'm going to have to ask tech support (my son) why the difference in the Ah numbers at the beginning of the report and those near the end.

Check your complete read out and make sure about nine lines down it says this: Rev.[Y/WK/PL] HW:2013/29/0, SW:2014/18/0. The numbers in bold indicate that it has the latest service campaign. The posts directly above explain what I'm talking about.

BTW, the use of AH as opposed to KWH is weird. Removing V from the equation proves what?? How can you compare if a critical variable is removed?
