3 times the cost, ~ 3 times the range, seems about right.

I take it you're comparing a Bolt to a Leaf? (Certainly not to a smart ED.)

I think that the excerpt below from the article is incorrect, in that such mandatory warranties apply to hybrids (including plug-ins) but not electric-only vehicles:

... all electric-car batteries are warranted against failure for either 8 years/100,000 miles or 10 years/150,000 miles, depending on which state you live in.

Yes, the LEAF. I can't explain the lame warranty other than they're not too confident in its longevity.
