I am all for DIY.

EXCEPT for installing EV charging stations!?!?!

YES, you can locate and mount the charger where you want it.
And even run the wiring.

BUT, pay the extra $$ and have a certified electrician CONNECT the charger.

WHY?

IF, by some slim chance, something goes wrong.
AND a fire starts in/on/near/around your charger.

The FIRST question that an insurance investigator is going to ask is "Who installed this?"

Wanna guess their response when you say "I did it myself"?

Learned this from the experience of a friend of mine.
He was an Electrical Engineer.
He had degrees and knowledge that he could have built the charger from scratch.
There was a fire in his garage about 3 weeks after he installed it.
Garage was totaled.
Insurance payout = $0.00

I would agree, I would look to have it done.

I misunderstood what you were asking.

We live with my parents. In this city there is a "tax" for most services rendered. The minimum for the two companies I called about replacement water heater labor was $2000. I found out from another company $100- $200 up to $500, who didn't know about the "tax". Recently one AC failed. I got help there and solved the issue with about $10. Last time I called someone it was $300 for a $15 capacitor, and a nice lesson on how to wash the condenser I guess....

A great resource for L2 install . . .

Gotta agree with wrumbarger on this one - sometimes the LIABILITY risk is not worth what you might save DIY?

No, ED is not a Tesla BUT, this is my favorite resource when someone asks for a referral. And they have been vetted by Tesla . . .

Find an electrician

Most Tesla drivers choose to charge their Tesla vehicles at home overnight. To charge at home, you’ll need a 240 volt outlet or a Tesla wall connector installed near your parking space. See the Home Charging support page to compare and identify the installation that best addresses your charging needs.
