I recently purchased a 2013 Smart (451). My car has the windshield wiper stalk with the cruise control buttons, but the cruise control does not function. I removed the plastic panel and discovered the 2 wire plug for cruise was taped to the main harness. I connected the plug to the upper plug on the back of the cruise control stalk, but still nothing. I also have paddle shifters that are functional. I read on one of the forums that all 2013+ Smart cars have the hardware & software, but it was disabled for the US & Canada market cars for some reason. I read another post that indicated I can have a shop that has a MB STAR diagnostic computer activate cruise control with a TAN code. Can anyone confirm if this is correct and, if so, explain how I can obtain a TAN code for this?
