Hello All,
I have had my Fortwo for couple months now, but recently saw a "cruise control inoperative" message on the cluster. Would anyone know what this is about? It happened once before as well. Thankfully, still under warranty, but the dealer's over an hr. away.

Thanks much!

Defects like this should be directly reported for warranty repair. Unless you have a new STAR type system to diagnose, you are not equipped to repair this on your own.

This has happened to me DOZENS of times in my 2016 smart. I have taken pics of the dashboard, and even recorded video of myself unable to engage the cruise control. My smart service center has been unable (or unwilling) to repair the problem, because they can't recreate it. As it happens intermittently, it is IMPOSSIBLE to recreate. I finally contacted smart corporate this evening, via their website. I am hoping I can get somewhere with them.

Have you gotten any insight with your identical issue yet?

Cruise Control Inoperative, Continued

Me? No insight here... Been working fine. It's not used all the time. BUT I have been turning on the cruise as often as I can remember to do so.
I just got my smart back, after its latest visit for this "Cruise Control Inoperative" issue. The service center has never been able to recreate the issue in-house. Finally, a smart car specialist was called in from Mercedes. That person downloaded information from my smart, an it was sent to Germany for analysis. The problem continues to happen, and they tell me NOBODY else in the country has reported this issue.

Stay tuned.

I noticed that if I push the on/off button in the middle instead of on the top where it says on which is easy to do they should have made the button oval shaped, that it kills the cruise control and displays that message. When I turn the ignition off and pull out the key for awhile it resets itself and everything works fine.
