What are you looking to get out of it? If you're looking for better performance or better fuel economy, it's a waste of time. The gains (if any) in fuel economy would be so minimal you would have spent more on the bottle than the money you would save.

And as for performance, our cars are not optimized to use higher octane fuel than the RON rating. That means 104+ octane isn't going to do anything for you.

We used to put 104 in our Harleys back in the day, all that happens is it leaves deposits on the plug electrodes if too much is used. But they were air cooled engines and we were trying to prevent detonation in hot weather around town driving. I dont think you need it with top tier high test gasoline nowadays with the sophisticated engine in the SmartCar.

...why buy their junk...
...mix your own junk...
... Toluene (114 Octane)...excellent anti-detonation properties...
...this formula will get you some explosive $h!t..
[(Quarts Gas x 93) + (Quarts Toluene x 114)] / (Quarts Gasoline + Quarts Toluene).
...2 qts to four gallons of gas and you're over 100 octane...
...Xylene has a higher flashpoint (less volatile) and has and octane of 117...

Jetfuel...stirred not shaken...
PD...you are on your own...
PD...mix at your own risk...
PD...don't blame me...

I've heard of using Toluene as an octane booster, but never tried it. However I do use Xylene along with some Methyl Salicylate (AKA Oil of Wintergreen) to soften old and hardened motorcycle carb boots.

The Xylene results in extreme swelling of these items! I'd be very cautious about adding it to my fuel system.

Worked/Volunteered in a medical research lab while in college. They had pure Xylene there. Sure cleans up any printed material/writing/ink. Be careful, you might lose your secret formula! (I actually think that's what the check thieves use....). Toluene, now that stuff is cool. Just don't nitrate that stuff in the para and ortho positions, or you'll end up with TNT, trinitro-toluene...

just saw on youtube where someone adds 2oz of acetone to every 10gal of gas and he gets better mpg. he made the short trip on his car show the mpg computer reading. then added the acetone and turned around and did the trip back with the cruise on both ways and the mpg on the trip meter increased.

seems like this would be as bad for all seals as is ethanol

what does anyone have to comment on this

I'll take a stab at it for now...

But that is not the same trip. Going back home could be down hill? Should have done the same trip going the same direction for a fair result.

Acetone is a small higher oxygenated molecule CH3COCH3. Ethanol is CH3CH2OH which is even more oxygenated. As far as I know increasing oxygen makes things burn better, just like dumping in N2O vs regular air, 33% O vs about 20% O in regular air.

But 2 oz is such a tiny amount. Did it even get a chance to mix into the fuel evenly? I don't think so. Just add 2 oz 200 proof/100% ethanol. Should work even better...
