Wondering from people in the forum what is best dinghy braking system. I tow my SmartforTwo and nned to have auxillary braking in some states even though under 2000 lb.

Gedupont, thanx. Any issues with the ESP on the Smart, i.e., disconnect battery?

You will need a Battery Disconnect. I recommend the Roadmaster 766 Battery Disconnect.

I am flat towing my ‘13 451 and using disconnect. I was about to try the locking technique as others have described, but can not locate my second key! I had always kept it in motorhome glove box just in case the Smart got accidentally locked. Soooo, anyone have any advice on getting a second key? In a rather remote area, but will be visiting Medford OR and they have MB dealer, so if that is only solution, please let me know.

MB wants an arm and a leg for a replacement key.



I had a local locksmith supply me a key with electronics which would start the car OK, but has no buttons on it.


I also bought a key on ebay without the electronics, and had the locksmith cut the blank so I could use it in the car while towing.
