The copyright at the end of the video is dated 2007, so it's at least 6 years old. I doubt that it will catch on, though - it's just one more set of gadgets to go wrong on the car. Maybe the reason that 2 hinges on the leading edge and a single latch on the trailing edge has been the norm for over 100 years is because it just plain works, without motors, tracks, special floor pans, etc.

Can you imagine what a total mess the inside would be if you needed to get in or out when it was raining sideways? :( Or a dozen other situations when you need to get the door open and closed as quickly (and as little) as possible? No thanks! I'll keep my old-fashioned hinged doors. :) As the old saying goes...."If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

I don't buy the claim in the video about interior floor space being "the same" and ground clearance not being effected. It's simply not possible, the doors have to go, *somewhere*.
