Greetings all

We are pleased to finally announce that smart center Tyson's Corner SHOULD be getting our first Electric Drive demo car(s) beginning of February.

We will have a major roll out announcement once the date is actually set in stone.

In the meantime, we are able to accept build orders if you want to custom order your own all Electric Drive for delivery in mid March?

(Orders must be placed by Jan 5 for earliest delivery)

Step 1: Go to www.smartusa.com and choose "shopping" and "build your smart"

Step 2: Finalize EXACTLY what you want and PRINT OUT the build sheet

Step 3: Call our manager Zack Hill and MAKE AN APPOINTMENT to place the order (takes about an hour to complete the paperwork)

Step 4: BRING the print out from Step 2, your license, and a check for $1000 to place your order and Zack will give you a more specific delivery time.

Step 5: WAIT, your personal custom smart will be built and we will notify you at each step (scheduled, built, shipped, on the water, at port, at dealer)

Step 6: Come pick up your personal all electric drive smart.

If you are not quite ready to order, go to www.smartusa.com and browse the electric drive section. There is a place there to input your email, and you will be forwarded info when new info is available.

Happy Holidays.

Did that LONG AGO and all I continue to hear from the Mothership is MORE crickets chirping . . .

Marketing 101 stay in touch with the potential customer who has 1) made a purchase from you previously AND 2) has expressed a desire to buy your newest model.

As for my local Ed $tealer - don't even go there!

Give me $1,000 down but I can't tell you what the 48-50 state roll-out lease program might be, seriously?

So...

Three years and almost four months from when the first post in this thread was made, it has been announced that the smart center at Tysons Corner has been discontinued.

That leaves smart owners in northern Virginia with only two sources for support: Richmond, Virginia (over 104 miles from Tysons) and Germantown, Maryland (a 24 mile drive from Tysons through the worst traffic in the metropolitan DC area). While I'm sure business concerns motivated this move, it's not bound to increase the customer base for smart or MB. Especially since competitors are making huge leaps in the technology (Chevy's Bolt is the 2017 Motor Trend Car of the Year).

The service manager at my local smart center (and I do mean local) said that even though they will no longer be selling gas smarts they will be servicing them for many years to come, which is good since I intend to hold onto my two for many years.

I take it to mean that you believe MB of Tysons will continue to service the smart vehicles even though they no longer offer them? I will have to check that out!

:yelclap:

Got an email today from the Germantown, MD Mercedes/smart dealership announcing the soon to be available 453 ED and that you preorder now. Guess they will retain the smart franchise for the time being.

I just found out today that my local smart centers (Clearwater and Tampa, FL) have already or are shutting down sales as well. In fact, the former sales manager of the Clearwater branch told me today that he didn't think smart (EDs) would be sold anywhere in Florida at all.

It looks as if smart centers are becoming a rare breed in North America.
