I've owned my used 2009 Passion for about 6 months and started hearing a new noise. Everyone has their own "noise" description but it sounds like a broken horn mainly when turning left. I'm guessing it's the EPS. It seems to be getting worse. Is this repairable?
If you have an answer to your question I hope you’ll share. I have a 2015 smart 4two Passion with <75,000 miles that recently began showing the same symptoms as your 2009. My “noise” is like an Elk during mating season. I, too, suspected the horn, and that possibility has not been completely ruled out. My next thought was a faulty radiator overflow cap. I replaced it with an OEM for $12, but the Elk is still in heat. I’ve been thinking about the EPS, and I may put the front on a set of ramps and try to eyeball that mechanism. So, if you have any more info let us know. I’ll be glad to do likewise.
@usasa Robert46 only made 2 posts and that was over 4 years ago. You may not get an answer from him. Hopefully someone else will be able to help with you questions.
Thanks for the warning. Hopefully someone has an answer. As you can imagine, I can not make the vehicle reproduce the sound on demand so I’m hesitant to put it in a shop right away.
