My wife was leaving a stop sign and the ESP light came on. She stoped and it went off and never came back on. We just had 20,000 mile maintenance a week ago. Should we call the shop or is this something negligible? Thank you all for any input. It is a 2012 Passion. :)

ESP uses the same light as traction control and lots of other things. Good odds she was starting from a solid stop, but the dirt/mud under a tire caused the traction system to kick in. I wouldn't worry about it. :)

CK. Reread the posts here. It will happen again.

It is normal as little slick spots start to show up on the road this time of year. :D A2Jack

Anytime you lose traction or the stability program applies braking action to a wheel, that light will come on momentarily to let you know that the system is working and doing its' thing. It is NORMAL not an error message. It might be a hint that you should slow down for the conditions at hand if the streets are wet or slippery.
