After reading the Manuel on exterior car for the 016 Smart Passion it tells of a lot of things not to use to clean the car but nothing on what's best to use to protect the finish. Any suggestions would be helpful!

Any car care products safe for clear coat are fine.

An auto manufacturer, suggesting some particular brand to use on your car otherwise called 'product endorsement' could open the company to possible liability problems. Plus you have work out agreements with the product company.
Other than Mobile 1 I can't think of any name brand product other than Mercedes-Benz / smart OEM products that are recommended to use.

I use Maguires car wash, their waxes, vinyl conditioners, interior cleaner, back to black etc. since the mid 70’s, at the car dealership. They offer a clear coat scratch remover, handles light scratche, and swirl marks. Can’t go wrong with Maguires car products. Highly recommend them. Safe, on and vehicle.

As a business owner suggesting some particular Brand to use on your car would open up liability problems.
