Somebody sent me this picture, it appears to be a facelifted smart hiding, could be the 2019 model and could be revealed this summer during the 20 year celebration in Hambach.

Well.... it's hard to really tell because of the covering... but I'd find it quite surprising if they did any sort of major facelift to the 453 already.... considering the 451 ran for what, 8 years? And the only real updates it got was the more refined honeycomb grilles, and the tweaked interior bits?

But as for the picture, nothing really stands out to make me think that it's actually a new look. Pretty sure the only thing they're doing for the 20 year mark is that pretty sharp looking dark metallic blue one.

The 451’s first facelift (interior revamp, more airbags, deletion of the gray exterior valences, new colours, better warranty for US smarts) debuted in its third year of global production (2010) with the changes appearing in fourth year model years (2011).

The 451’s second facelift (changes to body panel design) appeared in the sixth year of 2013 and was the 451’s final facelift.

So this is right on schedule. The 453 is on to its third year in the world. A similar timescale was used for the 450’s facelifts.

I’m expecting the facelift to bring the 453 closer to the fourjoy concept. They’ll likely ditch the reflector headlight housings for full LED or at least projectors, and they probably reshaped the bumpers a bit to make it blend in with MB products better. They also likely got rid of the gray rear bumper that 453s somehow got saddled with.

ETA: Plus yeah, ditto Niteshooter...they aren’t going to camo something that’s just getting a new colour.

To be honest.... if they DID decide to convert the headlights to projector/LED projector setups.... I think that's something i'd probably consider trying to swap to my 453 so long as the mounting points and connections didn't change. That set that was on eBay for a while (can't seem to find it anymore) was quite nice looking, though...
