Technically, I bought a Smart about three weeks ago, but the dealer wasn't able to hand it over with an open recall and that's how long it took to arrange taking it to the former-Smart Center in the next city over and get the fix done. But as of this past Wednesday I am truly in possession of a 2008 Smart Fortwo Passion.
First impression, it's fun, but the ride is a little rougher than I remember from test driving it. But I think that's mostly from test driving it by the car dealer's nicer suburban streets versus the kind of terrible streets downtown where I work. I'm getting used to shifting with the paddles, and I think it works a lot better than leaving it in automatic. It's a pretty different driving experience from my previous vehicle, a 2002 Jeep Liberty.
Unfortunately, the car only came with one key, and the key fob didn't look in the best condition. It took calling five auto locksmiths before one said they could do a Smart Car, but I managed to get another key this morning for about $150. And it only had one set of floor mats, a really heavy duty looking rubber set that I don't care for, so I've ordered a more carpet like set. Other than that I don't think I'm going to make any changes until it is time to get some snow tires, which should give me time to get a feel for what I like and what I want to change.
The only thing I'm looking for now is a decent cell phone mount. The one I was using previous was suction cup mounted to the windshield, but that wouldn't work as well in this vehicle with the shape of the windshield and the dash.
