I though it might have some kind locating pins .

Another question. I thought I've read somewhere that smart car panels were made out of plastic colored all the way though. Pure am I delusional?
Why did you paint over the badge? It's it non reasonable or wad it by choice?
I was thinking the same thing. A heat gun, and dental floss. Will remove the badge easy. 3M trim glue will glue it back on. There’s also really thin 3M trim tape, I’ve used many times, to replace badges.

I'm guessing my 2013 white is all the way through since I haven't seen any dings.

Some plastic panel are pure color all the way though panel. A protective clear, is applied over it. My blue color, was painted metallic blue, with a clear coat. Any chip, door ding, you would see black plastic Underneath.
