If you get your car in Cali, the out of state sale permit is only good for ONE DAY! We didn't know this until we were almost done at Mercedes in Riverside and it totally messed up our plans to spend the night in Rancho Cucomonga. If you get caught past the permit date, you would have to pay to register the car in Cali. I really couldn't think of how jerky a cop would have to be to enforce this permit a day later, but my companians wouldn't let me risk it. For even more fun, my insurance agent was closed on Friday when I got it, so I was advised not to drive it until I was covered on Monday. Uhmm... no? ;-) We had to get a 30 day moving permit from the DMV (took 15 minutes, tops!). Just a heads up for any other Cali buyers! (cause smart Center Riverside RULES!)
