From MSNBC:

French transit strike to enter seventh day
Strike paralyzes rail system, leading to massive traffic jams

PARIS - A transit strike that has paralyzed rail traffic in France for nearly a week, costing its national railway $146 million, will stretch into a seventh day Tuesday, coinciding with a walkout by civil servants, union officials said.

A "large majority" of rail workers voted Monday to keep up the train strike, and "the tendency is to continue through Wednesday," said Daniel Laplui, spokesman for the UNSA-Cheminots union.

Hours later, workers at the Paris public transport authority also voted to continue the walkout Tuesday.

:( :( Got to have some effect on getting cars from the factory to the port, unless they are all shipped by truck?

In the pictures of Smartville, there are many where they are loaded on triucks, but I also do recall seeing tracks right next to the factory. Frankly they could do trucks just as cheaply in guessing they can fit twice as many cars as normal on a truck.

If you look at smartville on Google Earth vice Google Maps you can see it all, including 38 automobile rail cars on the spurs. The feeder line from the loading spurs runs around the east, south, and west sides of the factory, then it turns and runs off southeastward.

French rail workers have voted to end the strike. The system should be running "normally" in a week. Rail is the primary mode for both raw material and finished product in Europe this was a bigger deal there than it would be here. Happy Thanksgiving

Fish, what version of Google Earth do you have? Is it the "Plus"? The free version isn't real time, sadly, but what can I expect for free, right?

No version of Google Earth is real time, or I'd have one right now tracking my spouse's movements!
Good one, dickey. LOL It's just that my free version is way behind with full foliage on the trees here. Apparently for $20 there is a version called "Plus" which gives you GPS real-time tracking. I'm not sure what that is so I thought I'd ask. Obviously if fish is monitoring railroad cars and such it must be better than the version I have.

The GPS means that a little arrow appears on the maps when you hook up a GPS device to your PC. It doesn't mean the spy satellites are commanded by your computer. You should find some French Resistance forces platooned in the area to help you plan your attack on the factory.
