I have a 2012 fortwo with 70k mi. I have a problem with fuse #13? I think. Every time I lean back hard on the drivers seat, the fuse blows. The air bag light on the gauge cluster is on now as well. I do not have power/heated seats and have not had time to get my multimeter to test the circuit. Does anyone know of any common problems with the seats blowing fuses? I do know there is an airbag in the seat, just thinking that may have something to do with it. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Air bags are on fuse 18
It’s possible your seat belt buckle switch is shorting to ground as it’s getting power when the key is on.(which would explain why it’s blowing the fuse when you move the seat)
Nothing in the service manual shows anything going to fuse 13.

What’s the harm in just looking at the wire?
At least he would know before taking it in and the dealer trying to say they gotta replace multiple things to fix it.
I went through a similar issue with my 03 Escalade that had a chafed wire for the drivers side air bag all it took was repairing the connector and clearing the code.
Never had the air bag deploy on me afterwards due to that.

It is fuse #18.

When the fuse blows all my cluster lights come on. The first time the fuse blew the air bag light turned off after I replaced the fuse, but like I said its stuck on now. Also the seat belt latch was broken when I bought the car. It doesnt beep when the vehicle is in gear and the seat belt isn't buckled either, I think someone may have disconnected it. I have been looking for a replacement, but don't want to spend $100 on it. If anyone knows where to get parts in Portland OR lemme know please!

I’m about willing to bet someone did the reminder defeat mod mentioned on Evilutions site.
If the buckle itself isn’t too bad check the harness that comes from it(key off and battery disconnected just in case you need to fully remove the seat from the car to get to it)
If any wire is exposed then it would easily short out on the seat frame which as you have seen will blow the fuse.
If you want I can snap a pic of what to look for when I can?(just let me know)

I was planning on getting the new latch then diving into the whole thing all at once, you know so I only gotta take it apart once. I'll look at the wiring harnesses for the seat when I do though and see if I can testing the wiring in the seats as well. Thanks for the advice. I'll try to post pics if I find out whats wrong with it.
