I have a 2013 ED that I bought about a year and a half ago. I have talked to my Smart Center twice about it. I even called on in another city. No one could ever figure out how to get me the VVC. I even talked to Mercedes and was told to contact a dealership. I sort of gave up on ever getting it.

Then today, I thought about calling a Smart Center in California. I picked one at random. As it turns out, I picked the one that sells the most Smarts in America. I told the customer service agent what I was looking for. He asked me for the last 6 of my VIN and my email. Two or three minutes later, I had an email with my VVC code in it. A couple minutes later, I’m looking at my Smart ED on my phone.

Some on here have indicated that this service is only available to the original owner and only for a limited time. Apparently, that information is not correct and you just have to find the right person to talk to.

Is the service through Verizon? I work for AT&T and we already killed our GSM in January.

Sounds like it, let's hope it's instead on Sprint's CDMA 2G network, that one's sticking around until at least 2021 and into the future if Sprint doesn't decide it's bored with being the eventual only 2G carrier.

The only way around it would be if someone somehow figures out how to upgrade the ED's radio hardware.

Dunno who M-B is using but rumor has it that their 2G door is closing and there is no migration plan to 3G as was the case for the Nissan Leaf?

While you can, may want to try EvAccess the non-Daimler (iOS) option for ED . . .

EVAccess for iOS - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download.com

Note, EvAccess is also available @ the Play Store for Android.

So I will be calling today and try and get my code. I can still log in on my phone, and see all the info on my car that I dont own anymore. Go Figure.
What i would really like is to find out what happened to it and where its lives now, ap wont show location

Verizon isn't retiring 2g next year so it wouldn't be them. Possibly T-Mobile.

Just installed and registered using the Mercedes Me app. There's nothing in the app itself that looks to provide state of charge/charging information. Most interesting to me, though, is that it says my warranty is good through September 15, 2021, but I purchased the car at the end of May.

If the problem really is with deprecation of the hardware and technology used by the Smart to transmit its status, no app will fix that. Unfortunate as we use EVAccess all the time.

You aren't getting any sort of remote interaction options through there, are you? (I.e., remote climate control or remote start) on a 2017 ED?

No, the app is more of an advertisement than anything, from what I can tell. It asks me to activate my "mbrace" account, which provides services very similar to OnStar, and I believe at a cost. There are options to read online manuals and such, but none of the smart manuals are available from within the app. There's no ability to read anything from the smart nor interact with the smart in any way, so it basically provides no functionality.
