I mentioned this at the last gathering of the Hampton Roads group - We could meet at Starbucks near Busch Gardens (Williamsburg) on Saturday May 23rd, then drive up the Colonial Parkway to the Jamestown Ferry. Crossing the James on the ferry would be a great photo op. When we get on the Surry side we could go pick strawberries at College Run Farms then everyone can leave from Surry on their own.

Would anyone be interested in this activity? Would you prefer to do something like this later in the summer (this would mean picking something besides strawberries)? If you like this idea, what time would you like to meet (I am thinking about 1 pm)?

If people are interested, I will post more specific plans as I get input.

Thanks, Kooky! I love it! So glad hubby talked me into the convertible! Had to go to Annapolis to get it, but it was worth it to get what I wanted and never have to check that DDE again!

Here are the plans for the ferry ride

First of all, I did not realize when I suggested this date that it was Memorial Day Weekend (it is early this year) so we may not be getting as much interest in this as I had hoped.

- We will meet at Starbucks at 1 pm. The address is:

This is on Route 60 near Busch Gardens

- We will leave Starbucks after we have had a chance to buy our caffeine jolt of choice and enter the Colonial Parkway at the Cheatum Annex and we will drive to Jamestowne. We will stop in a parking lot of Jamestown Settlement - this is to make sure we will be able to all get on the ferry together.
- After we get off the ferry we will go to College Run Farms to pick strawberries.
- Everyone is on their own after that.

If it is a rainy day like today, the trip is cancelled. If that happens, I will try it again later in the summer or fall.

I can't wait to take pictures of the Smarts on the ferry!!!

skyvue, I was supposed to go to NYC with friends but it looks like the trip might be cancelled due to one person's illness. I love the idea of ferry crossing and strawberries picking (never done either one ). I will let you know Friday evening.

The ferry is free! I don't know if the farm accepts charges. Last time I went the quarts were 3 or 4 dollars and a big tray was around $15.
