I needed to take off the hatch panel to take it into the body shop to be painted. I changed many panels on my old smart fortwo so I figured this would be very similar and it was.

2 screws on the right, 2 screws on the left, & 2 screws on top (under the storage lid). Or so I thought...there was a third screw on the top and I couldn't see it because it is under the release latch handle cover. I couldn't get it to come off easily so, with the assistance of my son, we pryed up on the plastic cover enough to expose the hidden screw. I was able to use a magnet screwdriver to unscrew and remove it. Allowing the rear panel to come loose and off the car. Besides the hidden screw it was a really simple project. Now to hope it goes back on as easily in a few days...https://flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/sets/72157662959414319
