a week or so ago it got pretty nippy here in Florida and during that time I noticed how the hatch would not stay up/open. Then when it warmed up the hatch was normal.

Anybody ever have that happen (struts worn out)? Car is not that old, only has 44k miles.

MY08, is actually 10+ years old!

Yes, the gas filled struts do wear (age) out and can then become sensitive to temperature swings before failing completely.

My 08 had one worn out strut probably just 5 or 6 years into ownership. Tip: while replacing one, it’s worth replacing both, because chances are that the second one isn’t far behind on the failure path.

I just replaced my 451's hatch struts for $29 from Amazon. The originals lasted almost a decade. It is so nice not to get bonked on the head now!
