Car is in need of its "every 10,000 miles" service which must be preformed. Get the service done or bad problems will start to occur to the car.

Hint: Engine oil and engine oil filter needs to be changed every 10,000 miles or 1 year as well as your engine air filter and your cabin filter. Dont use any oil other then advanced full synthetic or European blend(Recommended from manifactor Mobil 1) engine oil(0w-40) or you might as well throw the engine block in the trash can after 200 miles or so.

Time to look online on how to do the service or have someone do it for you but it will cost money

PS: How many miles did your odom meter say before the wrench appeared because the miles your car has determines what needs to be done

SO ONLY use Mobil 1 0W-40? I am going to be due for oil change and want to do it right. Bought used 2009 from friend who I am sure did the right thing. So oil filter, air filter and cabin filter EACH time? Seems a lot but.... I ALWAYS change out the oil filter with oil change but not air or cabin every time but after two or 3 oil changes.

I usually change cabin filter once a year, and air filter when it gets dirty, or use a reusable filter that can be cleaned such as a K&N. There are other synthetic oils that will work as well as Mobil1 but I am a bit partial to Mobil1, and they did come with Mobil1 thanks to Penske Automotive Group...

There are others thats full synthetic engine oils but again...follow what the manifactor says.

In my case,I plan on putting in royal purple engine oil since it seems to preform better then of OEM recommends. You could try others but again, its a hit or miss if it effects the car negatively.

Yeap, change then every year or every 10,000 miles. I change mine every 10,000 miles instead cause its a little cheaper that way for me

....really...you base your maintenance schedule on miles and not on operational conditions?...
...you don't follow your own advice and you tell people that their " engine block" will be trash within 200 miles...
...and don't get me started on your views about "high octane fuel"...

Jetfuel....back to the drawing board...

Uhhh? I take it you don't like the Mercedes or the company for smart much?

Im pretty much saying exactly what the service manual is saying including what it required for the fluids
https://www.smartusa.com/vehicle-manuals Look for your model year and look through whats required for each service interval.

Your right I wont say my views on high octane because well...look at my gas cover sticker. Curse them darn tiny engines and their high octane fuel!

PS: I kinda do a little bit of both for the service stuff. I change the engine oil at 5K and the filters at 10K, 35K for the transmission oil and 30K for the spark plugs...Speaking of which, time to change out the head lights.

Good day sir.

...no dude..what you are saying and what's published information are two different things..
...nowhere in the data it says that if you don't run their oil you will need to trash the block within 200 miles...and then you said you're going with Royal Purple....Royal Purple??....for real???...give me a break...you need to stop reading " Bob's the oil guy"...
...you said get the Service done or bad problems will start to occur to the car....not knowing if the car had a class A maintenance done and the maintenance schedule warning was never reset shows me that your troubleshooting skills are flawed..
...and about that fuel...our 2008..one of the first smarts in my city...ordered in 2007...never saw premium gas...traded it for a cabrio in 2012 and guess what kind of fuel it runs...but that's my bride's car...fuel recommendations like maintenance are based in operations...
...I do run premium and sometimes more...like 100LL in my '09 smart...and I can tell you with certainty that at well over 6K rpm and plenty of hair dryer pressure the little engine does fine for the type of operations I put it through...

Jetfuel....no need to look.....got my own book...
