Hello!
New to the forum so forgive my ignorance.
After 10 years of beloved ownership my 2002 fortwo was retired from service.
It had been used as my personal vehicle and served as a wonderful advertisement for my coffee shop business. Rather than scrap the car, I positioned it up against the side of my business as a wonderful garden ornament with the rear of the car parked literally millimetres from the wall.

3 months on... I need in to the vehicle. The battery is totally dead and the key fob won’t open the central locking... and the back of the car is too close to the wall to access! Any suggestions??

You just scared me into going into the garage and running my 450...going to need a battery tender for winter storage.

According to Club smart car, it seems the boot is the only way in after a dead battery. I suppose a "sim jim" tool could also get the door open. Hold on, let me do some more research for you...

Hey Ben, try a search on the forum for this exact topic. I recall a few other members being in a similar predicament, hopefully you will find your answer. Sorry I could be of better help but I wish you luck in getting inside the Smart.

Cheers, and keep doing the wonderful work with the beans :).

There is a plug on the driver side door handle. Remove it. Use the key to unlock the door manually.
OP has a 450. :) The manual unlocking mechanism is on the boot.

Another way would be to provide power to the starter to unlock the doors, but likely not possible with only mm of space to work with.

OOOOH, I like that. Get a jack and two of those dollies (I bet Harbor Freight has them). Get one side on, then the other side...roll the car far enough forward to get to the boot.

Smark,
Since you are only post #8 , it is not too much to ask/suggest that you do a quick
review before declaring the previous post unintelligible.
Return to post #1 , and you will understand.
You may even discover that you have a useful suggestion.
