Hey guys/gals,

I am a proud owner of a new to me silver w/ black interior 2008 smart fortwo Passion coupe that I just purchased.

I currently own several Mercedes vehicles, but purchased the smart as a company commuter car that I will have wrapped with my company info when the weather breaks later this year. (early spring) Besides the great mileage I have loved the fortwo every since I first saw one years ago. I instantly fell for it and kept it in the back of my mind every since. I came across my used smart with high miles as an "as is" purchase knowing that I would have to do work on it and I'm fine with that. I love the way the car rides and how roomy it is and I have started working on getting the car ready for MD inspection, but it will take time, because I work 12hr days/6 days a week.

I have plans to eventually make the car a little more "me" by upgrading the stereo, interior, exterior and wheels. I can't wait to have it wrapped so I can advertise the car AND my business while on the road, because its such a cool little car. The smart is in the garage for now waiting for the next repair to be completed. Some repairs are small annoying things and some or more time consuming, etc. Eventually they will be complete and I will be driving her.

I look forward to learning more about the car, as well as learning about this site and its people. Thanks in advance for any help along the way, but please bare with me as I learn the ins and outs of this site and smart cars.

Welcome to SCOA TheFadingTheory. You'll find the Fortwo is a great little car to tinker around with as you get it modified for your particular needs. The only real downside to the Fortwo is if you have to do any major engine work as it is hard to access the engine for anything more than basic maintenance. There are no dumb questions and you will find alot of expertise on this forum, so don't hesitate to ask. I'm sure some of us has the answer. DCO (DreamCarOwner)

Hello, and welcome!

I am originally from the Mercedes side as well. Except for the fact that they set up a smarttekinfo.com website, vs. startekinfo, it's set up pretty much the same way. If you happen to have access to EPC, parts for the smart are listed there as well, or you can ask here on the forum.

Again, a mighty welcome.

Welcome! I had a similar experience with the Smart as you. My parents were out near Cabela's in Hamburg, PA one day, and they told me i had to go out to the jewelry store there to check out the little car. It was a Smart ForTwo (450.... 2007 or earlier) at Murphy's Jewelers. Loved the look of it, and the idea behind it. Maybe a year after that is when I heard they were going to be officially bringing them to the US. Took the hour and a half trip down to the dealership in Devon, PA to test drive one, and put the $99 down.

The only thing worse than really REALLY wanting a car.... is having to wait a year to get it. haha
