Hi! I am Lisa, a Notre Dame MBA student, and currently helping with an idea to make traffic stops easier and safer with Federale.

CopFob is an app where drivers can present police officers with an electronic version of their driver's license, vehicle registration, and insurance proof when they get pulled over. Now the app is in its prototype phase and is on beta testing looking for smart car users' feedback.

Appreciate it if you could take 2 mins with CopFob (clicks on the right side of page) and fill out the questionnaire for your valuable ideas!
For any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me via [email protected].
Thanks a ton, and merry Christmas!

Main problem that I can see is that in most states, digital forms of insurance might be acceptable, but digital drivers licenses and registrations are not yet. In an article on the subject I found from about 2 years ago, at least, only about 15 state were studying the idea of mobile drivers licenses, and only one state was actually moving forward with the idea.

Progress is usually slow (unless somebody is getting rich off of it.) People sign all sorts of digital documents which are legal and will hold up in court. There's no reason we shouldn't be able to have secure digital versions of drivers license and registration, especially since the cops can verify what you present through their own computer system. Go for it! :)

^ I agree.
The insurance I have on my scooter has a digital copy that I keep in the wallet on my phone(iPhone) but I still keep a paper copy of it in the glove compartment just in case it in a state that doesn’t take it.
Btw if you can do it that way the digital Wallet function can be accessed without unlocking the device(iPhone it’s double tap of the sleep/wake button)
Not sure if I would trust a stranger(much less a cop) with my phone though.
