My 2017 smart ED recently went in for service, they had to update the computer because of the radio clock issue. The service rep told me that when they tried to apply the update, it screwed up the instruments panel - took 3 weeks to resolve. I have it back now about a day afterwards the cars alarm system went off for no reason, first time ever! But what I noticed is now when I look my doors, the lights blink twice but there’s no horn confirmation. Is there a way to set this up? I have confirmed that my horn works as it also does when I press the remotes panic button. Thanks

The dealer may have turned off the "beep" feature when they were screwing up the rest of the car. With the factory alarm, you should get three beeps when the doors lock; assume you were getting that before the dealer "service." :)

On my wifes Kia you press the remote once and it flashes the lights and locks the doors. You can then hit the remote again and it will flash the lights and blow the horn a short blast I guess to confirm that the car is locked. I wish my Smart did that. Was that a feature on the 451's also? DCO

O
451s with the optional factory alarm system, yes. :)
This is a quote from the 2011 fortwo operator’s manual:
<<In vehicles with anti-theft warning system*, an acoustic signal will sound when locking or unlocking the vehicle. When unlocking, the acoustic signal sounds once. When locking, the acoustic signal sounds three times. The acoustic signal is activated at the factory. If you wish to deactivate the feature, contact an authorized smart center.>>
Hope this helps!
