The Mercedes dealership in the Tulsa area is no longer selling or servicing electric drive smart cars. Would anyone have a suggestion on where I could have my 2013 car serviced around the Tulsa metro area? What alternatives do I have to the dealership?

What kind of servicing do you need? The regular maintenance on an ED is pretty minimal and all of it can be done easily in your garage or driveway with minimal assistance. Are you paying for the Battery Assurance Plan (BAP) on your vehicle?

I thought that if a dealership sold Smart cars that they were obligated to service them for at least three years. Look over the sticky at the top of this forum for the service items to be done/checked. As stated above there is very little in the way of parts to be done and they are all very easy to do. Even if you aren't particularly a DIY'er, you can easily become one for your Smart. You've got the desiccant cartridge and maybe the cabin filter - both five minute jobs. And you've got the brake fluid flush that any shop can do if you don't want to try that at home.

Too bad - they shouldn't have been given a choice. Wonder what will happen now with the requirement for BAP owners to have mandatory annual battery inspections when their closest dealer is now a thousand miles away? Will be interesting if a battery warranty claim comes up.

Pimple on the Daimler elephants butt - as the smart footprint in the U.S. continues to shrink so does their "orphan car" exposure.

Over the last 10 years Daimler/smartUSA has shown little smart Customer loyalty (aside from a few exceptional smart Centers) and that will not be improving? As ownership moves from M-B centric customers beyond CARB states to the general population the basic 4 year warranty will continue to age out.

As we enter that great EV unknown beyond 5 years, the remaining battery assurance plus "rental" customers will become so few that Daimler likely will deal with it on a case by case basis? The most cost effective response from smartUSA would be to offer a (sled + HV battery) buyout @ FMV and move on.

* The vast majority of these were leased w/BAP and continue to be "flipped" at auction without continuation of BAP Warranty or need for Annual Inspection. :shrug:

In Tulsa, did Jackie Cooper smart, even sell,service, and do Maintenance. On the smart ED? They sold the ICE version. Your closest, smart ED dealership. Is Loeber MB/smart, in Chicago Ill. There’s also Westminster MB/smart, in Denver Co. That’s if any thing major fails on your EV. Over 800 miles any direction of you. I’ve been to both them. Aristocrat motors here in KC. Will service the ICE smart. They never sold the ed smart here, and won’t touch one either.

Bought (actually leased) my ‘18 ED from Loeber MBZ/smart; the smart dealer my last smart was bought at smart MBZ in St. Charles, IL no longer sells them but says they’ll still service them for awhile anyway - as Loeber is much closer to downtown Chicago they still feel they have enough potential customers to keep the franchise going. MBZ will be getting more EV’s eventually so Loeber is pretty well positioning themselves for future EV buyers - can’t come soon enough to save the existing smart dealers so the numbers have continued to drop quite a bit.

Still dealing with no service options on my 2014 Fortwo electric drive. Does anyone have a suggestion of an alternative to MB for getting a Smart EV serviced? Could service centers who focus on auto electrical issues be competent in this?
