I am new to this smart car but have been intrigued by them since I first layed my eyeballs on one. I love driving it...sorta. I think if I had driven one before the purchase I would have had second thoughts but to each his own. The 08 with 28k was hard to resist. I just wish I could have had some input into its design. There is alot of room for improvement. I picked it up in Ft Myers and drove to Orlando. Got 47.5 on the way home and 38.1 in town driving. Sure helps on the ol pocket book coming from a turbo PT Cruiser.

Welcome to SCoA! Lots of friendly, knowledgeable, helpful folks here. And Jetfuel too. (sorry Jet, we luv ya).

Sounds like you've got some questions/concerns ... you've come to the right place for answers. Ask away.

FWIW, I've yet to meet a PT Cruiser owner who claimed to like their ride, and not very many smart owners who didn't. Feel free to query, it might help.

Uh, seriously, you bought without a test drive?

A smart is one of those cars you either love it or you hate it. If you hate it, move on. If you love it, keep it. We hear from a lot of people who think they can make it into something it isn't and want more power, speed, etc. the truth is that it is what it is. Personally, I love them and have had a few now and still love them.

Welcome! now you get to find all the added features no one tells you about... like the extra cup holder and the secret compartment...

Welcome to the club!!! You've come to the right place for just about any question or issue. Hopefully we can figure out what's wrong or improve the drive!

It's also worth noting most of the design "oversights" were fixed in either the 2011 model year refresh or the new 453 general.

Personally, I did like the Turbo PTs, they were basically the SRT4 Neons but packed into a PT...but boy did any iteration of the PT just love sucking fuel.

stupid me....i was so in love with rhe looks and something so different i was just sure this was the car for me. i did like my PT and the turbo was a real hoot! on Au.g 29 a guy came around a corner too fast and hit me in the lr door and qtr panel. State Farm said it was totaled cause the damages exceeded what the car was worth even tho there were no mechanical or safety issues and the door and window worked perfectly. so i kept the car and state farm gave me the money so i thought i will pay the difference and apply for a rebuild title. the DMV made it so preposteious with the rules and regs you had to comply with it scared us that we would run into more problems with them that we sold a perfectly good car and used the money for the smarty. my advice....dont get involved with the dmv for anything but renewals. i hope someday i will look back and be glad i got it but the fact of having to have work done by Mercedes scares me.

Well, since it is years out of warranty, there's really not much reason to go to the Mercedes dealer for most work. I live 300 miles from the nearest dealer. Trust me, in the past 68,000 miles I haven't been back. I have no desire to pay $150+ for an oil change.

What concerns have you got about the car as of now?
