Ed, on Wheeler Dealers, did a Mazda Sport cars wheels with that product. He did the door panel inserts of a Suicide door Lincoln Continental. Dash and glove box door too. With fake wood grain.

This is the same process that smart employed since 1998 to make all of the "cubic printed" panels for the 450s: numeric blue, scratch black, and all the others. They went out of production in 2004. Too expensive for the mass market.

Interesting process and aside from the cost how durable is it? Here I'm thinking wheel applications and things like chips or even bubbling with temperature variations?

The smart cubic panels are at least as durable as any other. It is paint, not a decal. And there is clearcoat on top.
