Greetings,

I noticed some strange readings from my battery gauge on my recently acquired 2013 ED.

For example, the SOC gauge will show 50% left. However, when I plug it into a Charge Point charger at work, it will charge up to full with 10.75 Kw. If the battery gauge is accurate, shouldn't the charge consume no more than 9 Kw? (since the overall battery capacity is 17.4kw)

My concern is that can I really trust the battery gauge? Let's say it is down to 20%, but is it really 20% or could it be alot less...

Would appreciate any input here.

Thanks!

The Chargepoint EVSE is measuring total power delivered to the car. The battery is a large portion of that, but there is a voltage conversion step (with losses) in the car's on-board charge controller, and the car may also run cooling pumps as well to circulate coolant while charging. A fairly small discrepancy like the one you observe isn't cause for alarm to me.
