I am a member of a MB forum group. This group attempts to identify scrap yards with multiple MB cars of various types.
Do we have such a listing for the smarts?
If not, can we start one? I know of no yard that has a smart car in it.

Thanlks for bringing this up. There are MB scrapyards in some locations and some people go to them almost like a vacation.

Great idea but the closest one is 7oo miles from me. I think I' ll buy a farm and start hoarding smart cars. But wait, I'm doing that already!

Unless I'm mistaken, they only let you buy parts if you come get them. The closest on the list is MA and I'm in PA. That's too bad,I could really use some replacement headlights. Mine are so scratched and fogged up. I believe I priced them new for $165 each.

Understood. I have two 451s, both 2009 vintage, that will need work to become 100% roadworthy. So yes, I need parts.

Have you tried a headlight restoration kit. I went to wall mart and purchased a McQuires headlight kit, it was a little time consuming with the various sanding, but really easy and they came out like brand new. I purchased the used set for $60 for the pair from a 2009 and they were so cheap due to their condition. After following the wet sanding procedure then polishing them and finally a clear coat protection, they literally look like brand new. All in all I am into the headlights for $60 Canadian and $25 us for the restoration kit.

The only thing I would do better next is longer sanding with the 1000 grit pad before moving to the 2000 then 3000 sanding pad.

I’ve used Maguires headlight restore a couple of my cars. You need to reseal them with A coating, or they will fog up again.

yes that is the kit I used, it came with a headlight sealer which is the little bottle in the picture.

New head lamp assembly you can get at Rock Auto. Cheaper to just restore them.
