I've found an interesting offer for a used smart fortwo online in my country telling that it's a non-painted model registrated at 1/2011 with this picture attatched, but I can't find any information online about the coloring of the models released that year or the previous one especially for yellow. So it makes me wonder.. is it legit?? Can anyone provide any information??

Welcome to the forum. It’s a European smart, from the type of alloy wheels, on it. Why wouldn’t it be legit? Do you know the vin number? Smart offered yellow and silver cars.

Thank you for your reply. I don't have any numbers because I haven't seen it yet in person. Of course its a legit smart, but i doubt its from 2011 or 2010 because I can't find any information on yellow ones and here in Greece people often change the original year on paper ( I have no idea how) to something newer so they can sell it for more. So I'm just wondering..!! Will the vin number solve my doubts??

The VIN number should solve your doubts. It is also a possibility that someone changed the panels to yellow at some point. Yellow was offered on 2008 models in the US. I believe there was also a slightly different shade of yellow that was offered in 2010-11 in the US. The special edition Pure Plus models were yellow and came out in 2010 if my memory is correct.

Here in the U.S., the 10th digit (from the left) indicates the year of manufacture.
I assume this would be the same over there... but what do I know?

It should. There is also a sticker on the drivers side B pillar too. That should show the color codes. The vin number on the lower corner of windshield will, give you your needed information. I doubt it was tampered with. You would have to remove the front windshield.

European smart cars, were offered with more panel color choices. You can’t base what colors, were on the vehicles sold in NA. Like mention too, the plastic panels are easily changeable. We have some friend here with the same color panels, and silver Tridon frame.

Get the vin number.

Hey guys, guess what, I saw the vechicle and I loved it, but the thing is all his papers, insurances and license that were made through the Hellenic police when it was brought from Germany where saying that the model year is 2011 and when i scanned the vin number it told me it is from 2008. 3 years gap. Just goes to show how corrupt this system is.. The guy now told me that he has to work it out with the car selling company he purchased it. Because if someone searches it in depth this "mistake" might appear as a stolen car too. Ridiculous 😅

Yellow was non-painted” as it was a “molded in” color.

The panels are easily swapped, hard to tell what year they might be???

Look at the 2 outer heater/AC vents on the dash. 2008 had the outer 2 square just like the 2 in the middle. A 2011 has the 2 square ones in the middle, but the 2 outer ones are round. DCO
