Is to be found in abundance in the passenger side of my 2008 Smart Cabriolet. I think a recent visitor may be a repeat visitor. And it ain't my cat, in fact, I think the visits took place at a friend's home.

I have decided to remove the entire carpet, clean it if possible, and re-install it, or perhaps replace it.

Any hints on the procedure. Alas there is no you tube video, but if I undertake this task there will be soon.

So: hints?

Here's what you can buy. These product work well.

Nature's Miracle Urine destroyer.

Or Nature's Miracle Stain and Ordor remover. They also make a Oxy formula too.

Most big box pet store carry the product. Comes in spray bottles.

LOL: well, I was hoping to tap the Smart Car forum for its expertise in removing the carpet. Any hints re that endeavor, tho' I must say it looks fairly straight forward upon inspection.

Just remember Halmc ! If you remove your seats disconnect the battery before you unplug any seat wires! This is imparative! Unplugging the seats disconnects the side seat airbags and also the seat belt restraints and you will end up with a air bag light on the dash that you have to go to the dealer to get reset unless you have a brand of engine code reader that will access the SRS restraint system (mode readers do the engine ECU only). It's not enough to just "not turn on the key". It has bitten me on the keester twice!
The carpet will pull over the parking brake handle. You will have to remove the console cover as such. There's a screw under a little "plug cover" right under the hand grip part of your parking brake on the console. Also the little slotted coin holder at the front of the console or switch/coin holder if it's a cabriolet will pop up and out with a small flat screwdriver that will allow you access down into the console cover at the front. Be careful of the LED panel that lights up the PRND as it and it's wires are fragile. You can look down inside the console with a light. It's been so long I don't remember if I took other screws out or it just popped loose from the floor. I think it will work up and off the brake pedal. If you have the drink holder, there's one screw in it that goes into the brace under the dash, but you can plainly see that screw. I presume you have to unbolt the accelerator pedal from the floor but not sure about that because I have never completely removed my carpet.
A buddy of mine spilled about a half a can of beer the other day in the passenger floorboard, but the all weather mats caught most of it. I found the carpet underneath to be scotchguarded. But after scrubbing with odor-ban and letting it air dry, I got most of the hopps and barley smell out. I was so mad! I keep my car spotless 98% of the time. Steve Villitoro and I should have been neighbors because we are both OCD about a clean car. But even after cleaning and letting it be in the sun, the new car smell is gone from mine. Good luck.
