Hello So Cal Smarties! Here's a chance to show off your smart car and do a great public service at the same time! The Braille Institute, Los Angeles is looking for car enthusiasts to pair up with their students for their annual road rallye. The media will be out and if we can get a bunch of smarts out there, we should get some great media coverage.

If you can make it, please: 1) Read instructions on flyer; 2) Fill out the required forms and submit as instructed (mail, email or fax); 3) RSVP at the So Cal Smarties site so we know how many smarts we have going.

Please note your "+1/Navigator" will be a Braille Institute student who met his/her required Braille reading goals and thus is qualified to participate. Your regular +1 is still welcome to help with course work and such.

Here's the write-up from Pat West, Rallye Registrar:
BRAILLE RALLYE - One of the most enjoyable rallies you will ever participate in. $10.00 registration fee payable on day of the event. Starts at the Braille Institute Youth Center, 741 North Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90029. Gates open at 7:00 a.m. Get there early!!! After registration the First Car Out is at 10:01 a.m. Coffee & Donuts available at start. Rest stop mid-day with snacks, drinks & restrooms. No fancy rally equip needed.

Rally is a simple straightforward rally - you will be assigned a blind student navigator who will read your rally instructions in braille. It is a real kick. For further info contact Pat West at 714-841-1249 or e-mail at [email protected] -- see you there.
