So I am looking at a smart car to buy. Its a guy who buys for a dealer. He says the axle has some leaks at the motor. I am concerned that this means the the tranny fluid ran low & could compromise it.
Am I right on this and how big a job is the seals?
Car is priced a bargain but its not if I need to do a ton of work to get it good again.
Thanks guys.

In the grand scheme of things, removing the rear driveshafts is not terribly difficult. I’ve done them both in a day. The seals themselves are minimal cost. A mechanically inclined individual with some patience should be able to conquer that beast without too much of a problem.
