Harbor Freight makes a motorcycle lift that handles up to 1,000 lbs. What are your thoughts about using two of them to lift the Smart for maintenance?

Not a good idea because the smart is rear-heavy and the rear is over 1000 lbs.

I think I have viewed photos of someone doing exactly that. As long as the car is raised by the jack points it should stay level.

I know it's not the harbor freight lifts, but a decent motorcycle lift like mine is a 2 tonne, 3 point lift. I could life the smart with just it, if I could balance it and not break anything, haha.

Really though, with how rear heavy it is, I don't think it's the best idea, but may be possible.

Sitting 2 of these units side by side to lift a Smart....Is that gonna leave any room in the middle of the 2 to be able to work under the car? If you have to lay on the unit to get under the car you might as well work from the floor to begin with. Just a thought. DCO

If you are working on the car where the wheels do not need to be removed ; get a set of 4 ramps. Drive the car onto the front set of ramps, then jack each back side up and place a ramp under each rear wheel. You may want to use blocks behind the front wheels while on the ramps to prevent movement.
