i don't have the key with the lock/unlock feature and i notice i can't lock the car with the door lock... how do i lock the car?

The key can only be used to unlock the door.

I’m confused. What model do you have? Without the fob, the car should not start because the transponder is in the key head.

the key you show is the same as my other key for my other 2009 Passion.

this key came with the 2009 Passion i bought the other day. apparently it is some kind of aftermarket key and starts the car fine, just can't lock the car with it

Looks like a aftermarket key. That’s why it doesn’t work. You might want to invest in actual smart car key fobs.

have asked local locksmith to get me a new key ($125); i guess we'll see what shows up...

No, sorry to confuse the situation, that is a 453 key and will not work with the 451.
