I'm looking to buy a new Fortwo by the end of the year. I had a few questions:
1. Are there differences between 2017-19 models? I see a few dealerships still have new 2017s and a bunch have 18s.
2. Will there still be new ones for sale in November or December? I was looking to purchase around then, but can move it up if need be.

Thank you for the help!

Welcome to SCoA! 2018 and 2019 fortwo models are all electric drive. <img src="http://smartcarofamerica.com/forums/images/SmartCarOfAmerica/smilies/tango_face_smile.png" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
Thank you, I should have clarified. I was looking for electric drive. I just wasn't sure if there were any model year changes.

Since all versions of smart will no longer be imported after remaining 2019s are sold I would grab the model I liked best for the best price I could find. Nothing significantly different between the 2017 to 2019 EV smarts. Those in the know will advise of any small changes.

A note, the 3rd duel-of-the-radios in the current 453s is between the Smart Audio System (base radio) and Smart Media System (touch screen headunit). I can't find any way to order and / or add a Media System to my ICE 453, and they seem to be incredibly rare on gas cars. Conversely, I haven't seen a 2018/2019 ED/EQ that didn't have the Media System. Not sure where the 2017 electric falls; but something to consider! I agree with Oliver; find the car you want, with the price, package and options you want now. Soon, there won't be many choices - even compared to the limited ones available now! (Hey, 1,100th post! Woo!)

Thanks guys. I have been planning to get one later this year since September of last year, but I guess the recent news pushed that up.
I'm in the Atlanta area and there's only 1 new one currently in stock, so I'm trying to shop around the US.

Agreed... grab the best one you can find now that Smart is leaving the North American market. Although San Francisco is a bit far, the SF Mercedes dealership had a decent selection several months ago since the town is ideally suited with its tight parking spots and short commutes. I drove a 2017 and it was a fun little thing. The power delivery and throttle action was a good bit smoother than the gas model. I only wish it had a little better range.

I actually reached to to SF smart and their policy is to not sell cars outside of California. ?‍♂

Not uncommon as apparently the paperwork (CAFE credits and such) to sell a CARB vehicle outside a CARB state can require additional paperwork???

My ED was acquired in CA and I paid to have it shipped to NC BUT, there was no additional paperwork as the title transfer took place in CA.

Note, may want to try MERCEDES-BENZ OF KNOXVILLE!

Ship the car...

Montway Auto Transport, who I have used before, gave me a quote of $749, door to door...

$709 cash ....

https://www.montway.com/

Rental of truck and trailer is around $700, plus two days driving, plus plane ticket, plus gas, plus hotel room...

That 2018 the VA dealer lists as 'black' is actually the 'blue sapphire' 10th anniversary edition, that color only being available on that build if that matters to you.

10 years of Smart in the USA, even though the brand came out in 1998; shouldn't it be called the 20th anniversary edition? :)

I can pick you up at the airport, you rent a U-Haul with car trailer, two days, your home...
For a plane ticket home, I may even help you drive....
Haha I appreciate the offer! I love the blue 10th anniversary one they have, but I'm trying to keep it under 28k otd (minus shipping). 8k down so I can finance 20k.
I don't know if they could come down that much on the prime.:)

My preference would be a discounted (one year old) 10th Anniversary smart.

While I admire your enthusiasm toward the smart brand, remember that with the end near and shrinking smart Centers depreciation will run deep - this is DEAD SMART WALKING ...

They don't seem to giving any additional discounts on the 18s, even the few 17s. Everyone is about 3500-4000 off MSRP for purchase. Maybe I'm not good at it though? Haha

If MB had a company car and sold it at an auction, is it still possible to claim the tax credit?
Car only has 1600 miles, was sold at auction by MB financial in May.
Would the dealer need the MSO for me to claim it?
Thanks for any help and the help thus far.
