Looking to purchase (or rent?) an Area 451 CC Programmer!

3146 Views 22 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  eagle4942
Recently was able to pick up a NIB Area 451 CC for ~ $200 on eBay(!) and I'm now looking for a programmer so I can muck around with the pedal mappings.

I'm hoping someone here wouldn't mind parting with their unit they no longer want/need, or at the very least, wouldn't mind renting it out for a lil' bit so I can dial in my pedal mappings.

Thanks! :D

PM sent.

This was an offer for a 'supervised borrow', not an offer to sell.

In case somebody else wants to sell theirs, the OP may want to buy one.

Thanks for the offer, jsenka. I'm currently working out a borrow with another member at the moment, but in the event it falls through I'll definitely be in touch.

I would still like to purchase a unit, however, if someone has one available! :)
Might be simpler since he's in Orlando - door to door delivery vs. the USPS. :)

He's not actually available in Orlando at the moment, with no "scheduled" time to be back. He's offering a "supervised borrow", so we'd have to find a time where both of our schedules match up.

I'd of course still like to pursue your offer, if it's still available.
OK, works for me. I'll send it down. :)

Thanks again!

This place is awesome. Just picked up my SCoA sub to make it official. :)

If Steve still has all the Area 451 stuff 1/2 price, maybe just get one from him?
EDIT: Oh, never mind! He's out. (And they show as $10k!!) I have one of the cables still in the box, but I'm not prepared to part with it. I haven't played with my mapping yet.

As far as I can tell, they're no longer available:

NOTE: As of December 15, 2014 these are out of stock at SmartieParts and we will not be making any more. They were custom made for us, so you won't be able to find them elsewhere either in this exact form. You can find (for example, on eBay) plenty of inexpensive compatible programmers. The trick is going to be the connector. For the programmer, search for "Pickit 2 programmer". Unless it specifies it has an "rj-11" connector, however (and most don't), you'll also need to search for an "ICSP RJ11" adapter.

Just curious, but does anyone recall how much these were when they were available?
I think they were $40 but went to $20 during a sale. :)

Hah, if only I'd have leased sooner... :p

Thanks!
I kinda wish I'd bought one. Oh well. Kinda late in the game at this point (6.5 years in), even if they were available.
I think mine was $20. I haven't tried it out yet, though.
...And Victor, you are always ALWAYS welcome to borrow mine!
